Background
The need for the Division of Aging Services (DAS) Employee Satisfaction Survey arose from DAS' Baldrige Team Five, Human Resources (now Workforce Focus). The survey tool was developed and improved upon by a committee comprised of at least one member from each section of DAS, including supervisors, front-line workers and a member of the Leadership Team for the initial and second iteration of its use.
Using the 2004 survey, suggestions from DAS and OHRMD staff were implemented within the survey tools. As an additional improvement, it was tested and distributed via OHRMD’s license and access to the web-based survey tool, Survey Monkey.
Successive annual surveys are updated as necessary through staff and Management Team input and continue to be administered via SurveyMonkey.
Procedures
A report of the results and comparison with prior data is made to DAS Leadership Team annually.
Follow up may also include the commission of a workgroup of staff from every section with the Division Director, at the Director’s discretion. This workgroup provides an indepth review of the questions and the aggregated response percentages to find paths to improvement of the survey instrument.
Below are procedures for conducting an Employee Satisfaction Survey:
Step 1: Review/Revise Employee Satisfaction Instrument by Management Team
Step 2: Edit the survey tool via Survey Monkey
Step 3: The survey is administered to all staff in the Division of Aging Services; staff have three weeks to complete the survey.
Step 4: Assigned Program Integrity Staff tabulates numerical data, organizes written comments and recommendations and analyzes information for report
Step 5: Report survey results to Management Team
Step 6: Management Team decides on priority issues
Step 7: The DAS Director may commission a team to review results and offer additional suggestions on priorites
Step 8: Management Team communicates follow up and/or progress on suggestions to all DAS staff regularly throughout the year.
