Summary Statement

The Forensics Special Initiatives Unit (FSIU) or designee will facilitate the Financial Exploitation Work Group.

Basic Considerations

The purpose of the Financial Exploitation Work Group is to improve the response to financial exploitation of at-risk adults through increased collaboration of law enforcement, Adult Protective Services (APS) and financial institutions.

Participating Agencies

The Financial Exploitation Work Group will be facilitated by the FSIU. FSIU will invite representatives from the following agencies to participate:

  • Local and state law enforcement

  • Prosecuting Attorneys

  • Adult Protective Services (APS)

  • Local, State and National financial institutions

Scope

The Financial Exploitation Work Group will discuss challenges to address the financial exploitation of at-risk adults in Georgia. The Work Group will identity obstacles and develop action steps to remove these obstacles.

Meetings

The FSIU will schedule in-person or web-based meetings as needed. The FSIU will schedule meetings, send reminder emails about scheduled meetings, record meeting notes, and facilitate meetings. Activities of the Financial Exploitation Work Group will be determined by a consensus of participating members, not the FSIU.
