Confidentiality and Privacy Standards

​Confidentiality

Contractors should comply with DHS policies regarding confidentiality and agree to abide by all state and federal laws, rules, and regulations on respecting confidentiality of an individual’s record. Contractors further agree not to divulge any information concerning an individual to an unauthorized person without written consent of the individual, parent, or guardian.

​Social Media

Publishing inappropriate or offensive material regarding individuals, human service providers, organizations, or other work-related contacts on social networks are prohibited and could reflect negatively on the Department. All employees should be mindful of social media and off-duty activities.

​Personal Gain

Employees should not accept, demand, solicit, seek, or receive a financial benefit for themselves or for others in lieu of their job performance.

​Privacy of Health Information

Contractors should comply with DHS’s policies regarding privacy of individual, identifiable, and personal health information. Contractors must also agree to abide by all state and federal laws, rules, and regulations on protecting the privacy of individuals and their health information. Contractors should safeguard protected health information disclosed by DHS and assure that employees and Subcontractors follow the health and privacy policy.
